Global Regularity for Some Oldroyd Type Models

We investigate some critical models for visco-elastic flows of Oldroyd-B type in dimension two. We use a transformation which exploits the Oldroyd-B structure to prove an L∞ bound on the vorticity which allows us to prove global regularity for our systems.

Global existence of weak solutions to some micro - macro models

We prove global existence of weak solutions for the co-rotational FENE dumbbell model and the Doi model also called the Rod model. The proof is based on propagation of compactness, namely if we take a sequence of weak solutions which converges weakly and such that the initial data converges strongly then the weak limit is also a solution. Existence of Global Weak Solutions to Some Regularized Kinetic Models for Dilute Polymers

We study the existence of global-in-time weak solutions to a coupled microscopicmacroscopic bead-spring model which arises from the kinetic theory of dilute solutions of polymeric liquids with noninteracting polymer chains. The model consists of the unsteady incompressible Navier–Stokes equations in a bounded domain Ω ⊂ Rd, d = 2 or 3, for the velocity and the pressure of the fluid, with an ela...

Existence of Weak Solutions to Some Vortex Density Models

We study the weak solutions to equations arising in the modeling of vortex motions in superfluids such as superconductors. The global existence of measure-valued solutions is established with a bounded Radon measure as initial data. Moreover, we get a local space-time Lq estimate for the continuous part of the solution, and we prove the global existence of a distributional weak solution for a p...

Wellposedness of some Oldroyd models that lack explicit dissipation

We review an argument of Renardy proving existence and regularity for a subset of a class of models of non-Newtonian fluids suggested by Oldroyd, including the upper-convected and lower-convected Maxwellian models. We propose an effective method for solving these models, including a variational formulation suitable for finite element computation. We consider some model equations proposed for no...
